Dr. Francis Sanchez, MD, DFAPA is the current Medical Director of Psychiatry at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center (SEIRMC) in Burlington, Iowa and the Geriatric Behavioral Health Unit at the SEIRMC-Fort Madison campus. He is a member of the SEIRMC Medical Leadership Council. Dr. Sanchez is also the current President of the Iowa Psychiatric Physicians Society. He is an Ex-officio Chair of the Minority and Underrepresented groups of the American Psychiatric Association Assembly and has served as an Asian American Representative to the APA Assembly for six years now. He has been serving as the Chair of the Des Moines Country Public Health Department for eight years. He has been appointed as Adjunct Faculty in Psychiatry for Des Moines University as well. He has presented at the American Psychiatric Association annual national meeting on many occasions and has also done regional and local peer and public presentations. A book chapter on nuances in mental health care for Filipinos in America is pending publication this year.
Dr. Sanchez is a Board Certified Physician Executive of the American Association for Physician Leadership. He also has Board Certifications from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and National Board of Physicians and Surgeons. He completed his medical education from the University of the Philippines College of Medicine in 1995 and psychiatry residency training from the Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA.
Dr. Sanchez' areas of interest include psychopharmacology, academic psychiatry, geriatric psychiatry, cross-cultural psychiatry, and medical administration.
