President's Message
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
I am humbled, honored and privileged to assume the role of President of the PPA (2019-2020). I am deeply grateful to my predecessor, Dr. EJ Santos, for her leadership and outstanding contributions to PPA during her presidency. I am inspired by the commitment of our past PPA presidents and members which made the growth of PPA possible. I look forward to continuing this important work towards fulfilling the mission of PPA.
It was a pleasure to finally get a chance to meet all of you at the 45th PPA Annual Meeting at Wyndham Canterbury, San Francisco last May 19, 2019. I hope everyone enjoyed the sumptuous Filipino food prepared by Pampagueno. We had fun memories together and everybody looked nice in the pictures. We also appreciate the presence of the Philippine Psychiatric Association president, Vanessa Cainghug. I hope we can work together on the project discussed. It is our goal to reach out to the other members and recruit new members.
Hopefully , we can have Dr Vanessa Cainghug and other colleagues in the Philippines to update us with the Taal Volcano Psychosocial Rehabilitation and how the Philippines has been coping with the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. We also have an invitation from Christopher D. Seeley, M.S.W. Program Director School and Justice Initiatives, American Psychiatric Association Foundation (APAF).
“The American Psychiatric Association Foundation’s school-based program Typical or Troubled? ® is looking for dedicated individuals to become a part of the already 111 certified instructors. They will be hosting their certification training on April 24th, 2020 at the APA 2020 Annual Meeting in Philadelphia. To learn more about the program components check out this video. If you want to attend please contact Tanya Thabjan, Program Manager, at [email protected]. We are always looking for members to get involved in OUR APA Foundation, to learn more about what we do to support psychiatrist and impact mental health where you live, learn, work, and worship; check out apafdn.org. “
Again, I need your support and attendance in our coming PPA 2020 Annual Meeting in Philadelphia, PA on April 26,2020 from 12:00-2:00 at the Days Inn by Wyndham, 1227 Race St, Philadelphia, PA 19107.Please invite new members to join and keep our organization alive and active.
